Jewellery Inspiration from… Katy Perry

California girls are unforgettable… as is today’s jewellery style icon Katy Perry. Perry is a mega star worldwide and has sold eleven million albums and eighty one million singles over the course of her career. She holds four Guinness world records and has been named by Forbes as one of the top earning women in music.

It’s fair to say that Perry is the reigning princess of bubblegum pop. She’s quirky, she’s fun… and she changes her look regularly enough to keep the rest of the fashion world on their toes. When it comes to jewellery, she doesn’t always subscribe to the idea that less is more. Instead, she embraces big, statement pieces that are often heavy on the kitsch.

What we really love about Katy Perry’s approach to jewellery is that she takes the ‘costume’ in costume jewellery to heart. This is a woman who knows the value of a well chosen necklace, pair of earrings or sparkly cat mask: and she’s not afraid to wear them all together in an outfit designed to turn heads.

Want to embrace a little bit of Katy Perry’s kitsch style? It certainly looks like a lot of fun! The first thing you’ll need is a heavy dose of confidence and a good sprinkling of playfulness. Once you’ve got that sorted, we recommend seeking out bold jewellery choices in bright colours. Blue wig optional!

It would be fantastic to welcome Ms Perry to our Upper Petergate shop. The first things we’d show her would be our Brave and Daisy London collections… but we suspect she’d surprise us with a whole new look!
