Nicole Richie has been a Hollywood regular since her childhood, thanks to her famous adoptive father Lionel Richie. She shot to fame in her own right during the early noughties when she starred in the reality series The Simple Life along with her childhood best friend Paris Hilton.
During this time Richie was far better known for her tabloid-worthy escapades than her fashion sense. The Simple Life ran for five seasons, but came to an end due to a dispute between Richie and Hilton.
After The Simple Life finished, Richie’s career really began to mature. She appeared in a range of television series, wrote two novels and there was even talk of her recording an album. She also become much better known for her style choices during this time. In 2008 she launched her jewellery line House of Harlow 1960, which later won her the accolade ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the 2010 Glamour Women of the Year Awards.
With House of Harlow 1960, Richie was able to explore her lifelong love of designing and making jewellery. She draws inspiration mainly from vintage costume jewellery, which she collects. She is a big fan of 1980s jewellery and loves big attention-grabbing cocktail rings.
If Richie were to pop along to our contemporary jewellery store in York, we think she’d be drawn to the Cornerstone Creations collection of bold statement rings.
