Jewellery is a very personal thing. Whether you like to treat yourself to jewellery, whether you love to buy it as a gift for your loved ones, or whether you like to wait to be surprised(!) you’ll probably be keen to find things that are a little bit special.

We think the best way to ensure the jewellery you choose is special is to find unique jewellery wherever possible. Doing this may mean that you need to put in a little extra effort, but we happen to think that it’s more than worth it. After all, you won’t run the risk of wearing the same piece as your friends!

Want to know where to look for unique jewellery? We’ve shared our suggestions below.

Antique and vintage shops

Depending on your personal style aesthetic, you may already be a fan of shopping in antique and vintage shops. This type of shop can be a veritable treasure trove for both costume jewellery and precious jewellery… though you may need to be prepared to rummage!

Craft fairs

Local craft fairs can be a good place to look for unique handmade jewellery. Depending on the type of craft fair you visit, you may need to persevere as there’s not always a guarantee of quality! Having said that, many small and not-yet-established jewellery designers exhibit at craft fairs in order to spread the word about what they’re making.

Handmade designer brands

We think the best way to ensure that a piece of jewellery is unique is to buy handmade. Not only does this tend to be a more ethical and sustainable option, it also guarantees that you’re purchasing something special. Many of the jewellery designers we work with pride themselves on their handmade collections.
